i've read some other reviews and comments from people have problems with their controllers, so i'm not the only person who had trouble with this. it is the most baffling and incomprehensible thing i've ever experienced in a video game. the controls changed in mid-game and even though they were still changed on steam, the game had returned to their defaults and nothing i did could fix it. literally while i was in the middle of playing (trying to get the food from the basement, i hadn't even started combat yet) the controls randomly switched back to their defaults. it even suggests playing with a controller, but why suggest a controller if you can't set it the way you want? anyway after some fiddling around, i managed to change the button inputs in the "controller setup" option through steam, and it worked. this makes no sense, i've never heard of a game that actually didn't let you change your controller layout.
You can finish the main story in 12 hours or so, though exploring every area and taking on side quests naturally lengthens that time a bit.
